Samsung Galaxy Note 3-partition and link2sd question

Hello everybody,

This is such a great forum and just wanted to thanks very much for all your help, I have read from other threads but on different phones so, so I still have several questions:

I’m about to partition a 128 gig micro SD card. Most people seem to use smaller size.

I have:

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 – SM-N900T - Rooted lollipop version 5.0 with internal 26 gb gigs phone (was KitKat before). I left it to a rooted Lollipop and didn’t do any additional custom ROM since I like the S-note app and the standard TouchWiz launcher. And I actually enjoy the extra bloatware apps since it’s convenient for me.

Bought the latest app Link2SD Plus Version 4.0.11
BusyBox and SuperSU Installed

Bought a Micro SD card 128 GB around April 2015. It doesn’t seem like the newest model now.

Specific brand specs: SanDisk Ultra 128GB UHS-I/Class 10 Micro SDXC Memory Card Up To 48MB/s With Adapter- SDSDQUAN-128G-G4A [Newest Version]

Using PC laptop: Surface Pro 3 running Windows 8.1 (able to USB connect with the original Samsung cables, but not the generic cables)

Program to Partition: MiniTool-Partition-Wizard-Free-Edition
Questions:

What is the maximum partition size I can make? Is 70-90 gigs okay with this class of micro SD card? Or only 2-10 gigs since it will slow down maybe?

On Page 24 someone else also had a 128 gb and they split to 32 and 20 gb. I’m confused there as well since I thought just partition to one really big is easier and simpler?

I notice there is a Link2SD folder in my external sd card. And inside there is a “Bind” folder, then inside that there is “Data” folder and “obb” folder.

Is it okay to add a new Android/Obb folder inside this partition folder or I should leave those files in the phone memory?

Or better way to ask is: what’s the best way to transfer some new obb and data files/folders to the external card (since I have many apps to test out)? Should I bind the apps with the Link2SD app or can I just transfer them manually with the laptop via USB cable?

Also with this kind of phone, should I try Ext2 first? Or Ext4? I heard different opinions on this part. But it seems to be better on Ext2 since I’m using TouchWiz original system.

(Edit: Also heard about CronMod, but not sure if I should go to that route due to liking the original system format)

P.S. 1 = I have more than 500 apps already in the phone (not games just useful apps) and still want to put around 5-10 more gigs of apps inside my phone micro SD card lol. Battery does gets drained quickly but it's still pretty fine since I’m always charging or have extra charger packs with me. Actually just now now after deleting some power consuming apps which I want to get back later on still; the phone lasts for more than 36 hours surprisingly. Before it lasted only 8-12 hours.

P.S. 2 = Just wanted to let people know: I noticed one strange thing. Before trying to do the partition on the external micro SD card, I just tried transferring/moving parts of the internal apps (.apk files not the data, cache, or .dex files) to the external micro SD card. It worked, but moved only partial of course (average 50% of the file, sometimes 10%, and sometimes even up to 80%). But then a week or couple of days later, when that particular app got updated, I noticed it got transferred back into the internal phone memory and not in the external SD card anymore. This happened to several apps, and I had to keep transferring them back out with Link2SD, and was very inconvenient.

Have this happened to anyone else? I haven’t seen or heard anyone talking about this incident. So I decided to move all the partial apps back into the phone memory first, then try to do the partition instead. And I have to anyways since still not enough internal space. Hopefully when some particular apps get updated, it will stick to the external card after I try the partition method. (Also for some new apps I will disable the update since I don’t need to update some of them).

P.S. 3 = I’m also going to try to do the same methods on a Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4" 64GB (Wi-Fi) with another same Micro SD card 128 GB. Hope these two devices will last for several long years.

Again, thanks for reading this long detailed post (written with my current knowledge), but I didn’t want any confusion when people answer my questions.

Hopefully someone can answer with certainty and everything will go smoothly.

Also the steps I will be following is from this website, which is derived for your original post I believe.

Samsung Galaxy S II (GT-19100) Gingerbread | Rooted, but superuser not working

Hello peeps, evilbeef here! :)

So yea, I have rooted my phone a while a go :D I have used Odin v185
and I used Speed Kernel S2 K-2 -21 as the PDA file. I have found this on GalaxyS2 Root webpage

I have successfully rooted it, basically I have rooted so many phones using Odin. :laugh:But this one is different. I already have Superuser app (from google store) before I started rooting it. After I rooted it, my phone rebooted automatically. In the Startup, The phone has yellow triangle. My Phone works normally.

BUT THE PROBLEM IS, THERE IS NO REQUEST OF PERMISSION SHOWING, I ALSO USED ROOT CHECKER, IT IS NOT WORKING, IT SAYS ROOT ACCESS IS NOT PROPERLY INSTALLED. ALL OF THE APPS I DOWNLOADED THAT NEEDS ROOT PERMISSION ALSO DOESN'T WORK.

BUT ONE THING I AM WANDERING ABOUT IS THAT MY KERNEL VERSION CHANGED.
IT SAYS THAT: 2.6.35.7 hardcore@speedmod-s2 #k2-21

But also when I go to recovery mode, I can flash CWM recovery automatically.
The only thing that doesnt work I think is the Superuser.
I also tried checking su binary vlegacy. I also try to check for updates but superuser keeps me forcing it to close.

I think I am only having issues with Superuser I think. How Can I fix this? Please Help :D:D:D:D

You are using my files at your own RISK.
I am not responsible for any bricked devices.

This is an Xposed framework variant tested on the Galaxy Grand 2 DUOS (G7102) running TW Android 5.1.1.

Samsung made a lot of changes to ART without providing the sources, that's why it took a while to workaround some of their changes, more information here.

It supports Stock and close to stock Roms.

This Xposed variant does NOT break support for any other device supported by official Xposed, which means it still support all devices supported by the official one, this version adds Samsung and XZ compressed odexes support.

Prerequisite:
- Stock (or close to stock) 5.1.1 Roms
- TWRP recovery

Bugs report:
- If you get any App FC, lag, post your Rom details, xposed logs
- If you get a boot-loop, reboot and get the logcat with "adb logcat" as soon as it gets detected on your PC (you may need to use a Linux distro to get earlier logs).

- ARM means the devices that are running arm32 operating system (Grand 2, S3 neo etc...)
- SDK22 means Android Lollipop 5.1.x

I will not reply to any bug reports that ignore the above requirements, explain clearly your issue so i can help, i can't read your mind.

How to install:
- Install Xposed Installer App
- Make a nandroid backup
- Copy the Xposed file and the uninstaller to your sdcard
- Flash "xposed-vxx.x-sdk22-tw-armxx-custom-build-by-wanam-xxxxxxxx.zip" through CWM recovery
- Reboot

Mirror and old versions.

Require (Samsung Official) Firmware File Lollipop update for SM-N900 Exynos non-LTE.

In Canada all UI and apps operate in English, the phone has AP= and CP=N9000 UAMDK and CSC=N9000 OJAMDK, Build=JDQ39 . N90000XXUAMDF ; Current installed version 4.3 ; I would like to update to Lollipop 5.1.1 via "ODIN" ;
Which firmware file should I use ? hopefully, the file would be secure, and free of malware, From which website can I do the download ?
The Serial Number within the software is shown as : 01233456789ABCDEF ( I find this very weird ), The serial number on HWR tag behind the battery is: RV1-----041 ;
The phone is region-unlocked, and carrier unlocked. It is not rooted. & The desktop I use is Linux-Mint-17.2 ; Do I absolutely need to ROOT the phone prior to doing the ODIN update procedure ? ( I tried to use KIES utility, but it fails because phone is not recognized due to faulty Serial Number ).

[Q] Samsung Galaxy S4 (GT-I9500) | ROM Suggestion

Hi guys, I use Android 5.0.1 stock version on my phone, but it uses too much space.
I want to flash a new custom rom, which is lighter, and better than this. I used CyanogenMod but it only has nightly version, and it was not really stable(it still has camera, snapchat, on call problems).
So I am asking if you can suggest me a stable, lightweight and nicely designed(like touchwiz or cm) ROM.

thank you for your time. :)

Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7 Kids T2105 T-2105 can't access recovery mode

I have three (3) Samsung Galaxy Tab Kids T2105 tablets. All are running the latest firmware, T2105UEAOE1.

None of them will boot into recovery. The tabs work, they will boot normally, and then will boot into Download mode. But they will not boot into recovery.

* If I hold down Power+VolUp+Home, or Power+VolUp, continuously, the Tab turns on, and then, about 5 seconds later, turns back off.

* If I hold down Power+VolUp+Home, or Power+VolUp, and release them when the Samsung Logo appears, the device boots normally.

* If I hold down Power+VolUp+Home, or Power+VolUp, and release Power when the Samsung Logo appears, and then continue to hold VolUp and/or Home, the device sits on the Samsung Logo for 20 seconds, then the screen goes blank for a second, then the logo comes back on and sits for 20 seconds, then the screen goes blank... and this cycle repeats until I release the buttons, at which point the device boots normally.

I have done factory resets (through the normal mode settings menus). I have reflashed the latest firmware with Odin3. Nothing seems to fix this problem.

I've been searching the net for hours for this. I see a number of other people who have reported this problem. But nobody has offered a solution. One person stated that he uses "adb reboot recovery" - which is a fine, if ugly, hack - but the fact remains that, for many people, apparently, Stock Android Recovery is not accessible from the Samsung Galaxy Tab Kids T2105.

Does anyone know of an actual solution for this, to restore recovery functionality to this tablet?

Trouble fixing up my Samsung SG-9006V hard bricked

Hello to everybody. I hope, you can understand me, because my english is terrible. I flashed the bootloader of my phone with a wrong image and I did a hard bricked, but my phone is not dead at all, so I have some hope to get it back. The first signal is that when I prees the power bottom a soft white bright appear on the left side of display, passed a second this light turn off and after turn up, and do this cyclically. The other sign is when I press the combination volume up+menu+power buttoms and appear a menu with three option, normal boot, recovery boot, fastboot, I must press volume down to ok, but when I press it dont work, dont work with any bottom I press. Well I saw in other post the sd card class 10 method to boot my phone but it didnt work. Today I dismantling it, I found 4 pins (RDX1, RDX2) (TXD1, TXD2). I assumed it was the serial port signal so, with a rs232 integrated circuit did something to connect to my pc with a usb-serial port cable, but it didnt work, odin and ADB not recognized my phone. Is there some software that work with DOS OS?. Somebody with more experience know something more?. I thinked to use a BOX software that they work with COM port but I dont know if it will work. Thank

Samsung S4 (I9505) Not connecting to a mobile network after flashing new ROM)

Okay this is a very long story. I have had this old S4 in my drawer and decided to update and refresh it. I found on SamMobile that lollipop was available for it, so I downloaded that. After flashing that to my S4 the phone could not detect a sim card. I then suddenly realized I had flashed the wrong ROM. I live in Australia and I am connected to a carrier called Telstra, but instead of flashing that one I flashed a ROM meant for unlocked phones. So now I am in trouble and I need your guys help! Please help me out on this and if you need any questions to help me just ask! :)

Samsung Galaxy S4 i9505 stuck on boot loading screen after flashing SuperSU

My SGS4 i9505 (Intl.) is running CyanogenMod 13.0, specifically cm-13.0-20160114-NIGHTLY-jfltexx with Gapps flashed.
I also have TWRP 2.8.7 installed on Recovery.
My phone had been working perfectly until this evening. I opened SuperSU app (which I downloaded from Play Store) and a message popped up saying i had to install SuperSU binary Normally or using TWRP/CWM. Normal Install popped up an error message, so I downloaded the zip from download.chainfire.eu (UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46). Then saved it on my SD card and flashed it through TWRP.
After the installation-flashing was complete, I tapped on Reboot->System and since then I am stuck on loading screen.
Is there a way to undo the flashing (Don't care about SU, just want my data unharmed)?
What did I do wrong so as to avoid doing it next time?
Please help as soon as possible,
Thanks in advance.

Flashing Samsung Tab 2 10.5 Issue

Hey,

Purchased a Demo Mode Samsung Tab S 10.5 from my place of work, we get the opportunity everytime they bring out a new model and put the previous one into clearance. I removed the demo mode which I've done many times before, downloaded the stock ROM and used odin to flash the rom to the tablet (again done it many times before) everything seems to go ok, but for some reason when the tablet reboots it has the same on it as before.

My work's google account, gmail, files, apps that were installed as part of the demo mode all still there. I tried it 2x with the ROM i got using the samsfirm program and then i re-downloaded the stock ROM from SamsMobile and tried and still the same. Odin goes through all the motions, says it was successful, tablet reboots and its exactly as it was before. I can't seem to figure it out

The only thing different this time from the times before is that i have to put it in dl mode using adb, previously download mode was accessible using the buttons.

Any help would be appreciated, ty

my Samsung Galaxy S5 is locked.

I forgot my password and chose factory reset by turning my phone and holding volume up key, home button and power button together. It resulted in my phone being locked. But after reboot, it asks for Samsung account ID and password. While entering the ID and password, the processing fails and can't access my phone any more. I have reset my password several times, but still same result.

Samsung Milk Music

If you like Samsung's Milk Music app like I do, there is a modded version that I can confirm works on the Moto X Pure. Just install both apks. If you want to be able to enable explicit content or other settings, you will have to create a Samsung account. That's what the samsungservice.apk is for.

This is not my work. I'm just providing a link. Make sure to thank the OP.

About COJ5 locked bootloader and Samsung policies.

Hi,
myself, being one happy Note 4 user, felt betrayed when Samsung locked the bootloader since COJ5 for Exynos variants, dunno about Qualcomm but I presume it's the same. Past this point we can't go back to whichever official (or custom for that matter) ROM, rendering our choices nonexistant. As far as I am concerned, we possess the phone thus we can do whatever we want, heck, I've paid a great sum of € for it! But samsung now says no-no. What gives? It isn't against the EULA afaik, and we have a crippled device now :(

Thoughts?
